Yup, still alive, just been off the air since I left home more than 6 weeks ago. I’m living in Moz on the farm and don’t have an internet connection. I’m loving life and having a ball. Unfortunately my phone here isn’t recieving sms from Aus so no point in even giving you my number. Only got a couple of minutes left here so this is just a quick one to let you know I’m doin’ fine….

Well, the time of my Australian sojurn has ended. Tomorrow morning I once again set off for Africa. I have enjoyed my time here, catching up with friends, eating drinking and being merry (and adding ten kilos to my skinny bag ‘o bones!). Surprisingly I’ve also managed to achieve a few things during my extended holiday home. It’s been grand and getting back is gonna once again take some getting used to after my life of luxury here! Winding my way back to the dark continent, I’ll be spending a couple of days in SA - mostly to watch Australia win the World Cup - then off up to the farm in Mozambique for the beginning of my next adventure! See ya’ll in September.

…well, at the end of the month anyhoo. Would you believe that it was over a month wait to get my frequent flyer ticket back to SA? Didn’t know the place was so popular! So what I’d hoped to be late March, early April has now turned into the 27th of April. But you get that. I can’t believe that I’ve been here for almost 4 months. It’s gone so dang quickly.
For the web nerds, I’m now actually getting the hang of html and css and am now entering the fun world of content management systems (cms), which will a main ingredient of a majority of my sites. Joomla! is the one I’ve just installed (literally yesterday) and am learning how to use. It sux ‘cos now I’ve got to RTFM - dang! I’ll get there though - you’ll see!
Another, more disturbing discover made a few days ago is that the screen on my lappie has decided that it doesn’t really wanna play nicely anymore. I took it in today and had it diagnosed and the screen will hopefully be replaced (under warranty) sometime next week. Yee Haw!
Well kids that’s it - sorry, my life isn’t really to exciting here! Don’t worry, I’ll soon be back in Africa and regailing youse with many more stories of my adventures! Less than a month to go!
March 4, 2007
Greetings to all! I’ve not had to many adventures of late - hence lack of posting of my incredible adventures! I’m still here in sunny Melbourne. My life consists of staying home and being a Nerd, in reality trying to learn how to build websites. I now have a greater appreciation of just how difficult it is to built a ‘good’ website ‘properly’ and, by this I don’t mean chucking one together in MS Frontpage!
However it is very nice to be home hanging out with family and friends again I’m certainly getting used to the ‘luxury’ life again and have managed to put on 7kilos since my return… I’m now no longer officially ‘underweight’. I now have a body mass index of 21.9 which is pretty much in the middle of the ‘good’ range. Basically I’m just enjoying eating like a horse, not exercising and generally being like the fat Comic Book Guy (Simpsons for those outta the loop).
For the mo’ it looks as I’ll be here until the end of March before heading back to Mozambique to work with Charles…. I am leaving I promise!

I know, I know, I get around (I wish!). Back in Melbourne town now, arrived back on Monday night and have been in bed sick for a coupla days - too much fun w Pete in Syd I know!! However the delivery of my new MacBook Pro computer was enough to spur my body into a speedy recovery and now I’m feelin’ just dandy! After I learn how to really use this computer I’m moving on to building websites (part of what I’ll be doing back in Africa) so yes, I have returned to my nerdy ways (did I ever really leave ‘em?) however it keeps me outta trouble whilst I’m home (and stops me watching endless hours of shite TV). Back to Nerding!

Boy do I get around huh? I’m now in Sydney with Pete for the next week or two - good to spend time with my little brother before he also heads back to work. Eeewww, work, what a dirty word! That word brings me to the real reason for this post - today is EXACTLY 18months since I left Australia. What a hell of an adventure it’s been so far - I’ve not quite yet turned 30 and I’ve figured out what I really want to do (and am going to) do with the rest of my life. I reckon I’m pretty damn lucky to figure it out this early. Anyhoo, gotta run. Later.

Howdy folks, for those of you who don’t know, and right now that is just about all of you excepting my immediate family - I arrived back in Melbourne last night (Tue)!! It was a fantastic surprise for my family, not even Pete knew I was coming home yesterday. So for all you, my old mobile is no longer active but youse can give me call at home. Email me for the number as I’m sure Mum and Dad would be pissed at me posting our home no. on the internet. Failing that I should be calling youse all in the next few days for a bit of chin wag and to organise a catch up or two. I haven’t booked my return tix to Africa yet, will be doing so in the next few days. Don’t stress, I’ll see you all before I head back to Africa on a perminant basis.
Happy New Year!!
PS. Now that I have time and computer power I promise that more photos will be posted from my last few months of adventures!
PPS. Should be getting a temporary mobile no. whilst I’m here. Will post that as soon as I get it…

What an exciting life I lead! I’m currently at a mates five star lodge on the western border of Kruger Park. We’re here for the week before xmas to break to young Pinto mares. Both now have been backed (accepted the rider on her back). I was the first person to climb onto one of them. Boy that sure was an adrenaline rush! However she is a lovely horse and there was no rodeo for me, for that I sure was greatful! We start here about 5 in the morning and work them until around 9-10am by which time it’s too damn hot to work and we’re knackered, horses and people! We then retire to the lodge to swim and relax for a few hours until it is once again cool enough to work again (around 4pm) and work until dark oclock about 7pm. It’s hot here during the day, most days are over 35 and usually pushing 40. It’s wet season here so whilst it’s very dry, there are killer thunder storms every few days. From our lodge on top of a hill we can see the storm rolling in for miles. A real treat.
Some of you may know that my brother Pete has just become engaged to his longtime girlfriend Megs. Congratulations (or comiserations, this bitter old thing hasn’t figured out which yet!!!!) At this stage the wedding is planned for Sept next year in Melbourne. Sorry girls…
That’s about all for now, I’m looking forward to my first Christmas away from home. Cricket in the bush here is assured with my Saffa friends and I can assure you that the Aussie v. SA passions will boil over!
December 7, 2006
Well I’ve cracked 500 days and am still going strong. I know it’s been a while since posts but I’ve been working hard in the bush and rarely get into town. I am however fit and tanned and getting pretty good at riding a horse (I’ll fall off this arvo now, watch!). So in answer to all your queries I’m still alive and kicking.

Geez it’s gettin’ hot here… averaging 35 degrees during the day, only sometimes are we lucky enough to get a nice thunder storm in the arvo to cool things down. It’s still and hummid, really hot conditions for working in the bush, and it’s still not Summer! Most of you will know that I’m workin as a Game Ranger still in Hazyview. This month we’ve just commenced the management of a 600Ha Game Reserve up the road. Ed, our boss, is away for Nov so it’s just myself and Grant taking care of it. Lotsa work, even more sweat but a hell of a lotta fun. We are able to ride the horses on the Reserve so we can do a lot of our patrols on horseback… sure beats walkin!
That’s pretty much it, you’ll notice that now you have to be registered and logged in to make a comment on my posts. Sorry for the extra hassle but was just getting to many spam hits for penis enlarging pills…
