What an exciting life I lead! I’m currently at a mates five star lodge on the western border of Kruger Park. We’re here for the week before xmas to break to young Pinto mares. Both now have been backed (accepted the rider on her back). I was the first person to climb onto one of them. Boy that sure was an adrenaline rush! However she is a lovely horse and there was no rodeo for me, for that I sure was greatful! We start here about 5 in the morning and work them until around 9-10am by which time it’s too damn hot to work and we’re knackered, horses and people! We then retire to the lodge to swim and relax for a few hours until it is once again cool enough to work again (around 4pm) and work until dark oclock about 7pm. It’s hot here during the day, most days are over 35 and usually pushing 40. It’s wet season here so whilst it’s very dry, there are killer thunder storms every few days. From our lodge on top of a hill we can see the storm rolling in for miles. A real treat.

Some of you may know that my brother Pete has just become engaged to his longtime girlfriend Megs. Congratulations (or comiserations, this bitter old thing hasn’t figured out which yet!!!!) At this stage the wedding is planned for Sept next year in Melbourne. Sorry girls…

That’s about all for now, I’m looking forward to my first Christmas away from home. Cricket in the bush here is assured with my Saffa friends and I can assure you that the Aussie v. SA passions will boil over!

Well I’ve cracked 500 days and am still going strong. I know it’s been a while since posts but I’ve been working hard in the bush and rarely get into town. I am however fit and tanned and getting pretty good at riding a horse (I’ll fall off this arvo now, watch!). So in answer to all your queries I’m still alive and kicking.

Later.
