T+435 Tofo

Filed under: The Road — Greg @ 2:12 pm

Well there ain’t much to report except I’m still alive and having a tough time here on the beach. Been here since the 4th of Sept and will be here for another week yet before heading South by a few hours for 4 days of deep sea fishing, spear fishing and lounging around, tough huh?

My biggest concern here is what I’m gonna eat next, and weather or not I should have another swim. I have been a bit crook in the guts for the last week but yesterday my appetite came back in a big way and I ate half the freakin menu! Guess I’m better huh?

I’m  happy that no legendary Aussies died this week, however, by the rule of ‘Three’s’ there is still one to go - I’m off to hide under my bed to make sure it ain’t me! Geez if I kark it now this will be one of the most legendary prophicies of all time! (Sorry Mum!)

Say hi to your Mum’s for me!

T+429 Sept. 11 Again.

Yeah, a whole bunch of people got flattened or torched. Doubleya got his chance to wage war on anyone he wants and the Seppos were dumb enough to vote him in again for round two. All I remember is that on this morning 5 years ago I was awoken by my Father at some unGodly hr (like 0700) saying America has been attacked. I watched the TV for hours and for once had a legit excuse for being late to work. More people die here of starvation and war here in a day than died in WTC. Not taking anything away from the relatives of the victims, my heart goes out to them but c’mon people lets put this in perspective! If Doubleya spent as much on making the world a better place rather than trying to destroy most if it we’d all be better off. Eish, who am I kidding? This is Doubleya at his best. Rant over. Out.

T+426 Peter Brock

Filed under: The Road — Greg @ 9:53 am

It saddened me to logon and again discover the tragic death of another Aussie. I was lucky enough to meet Peter Brock on a number of occasions whilst running motor sports events. He always had time for everyone and was always willing to stop for a chat and sign autographs. He achieved an incredible amount in Australian motor sport, with nicknames such as ‘Peter Perfect’ and ‘King of the Mountain’. He’ll be missed.

Tofo is lovely as ever and my tan is coming back in record time. I don’t really realise how much I miss the ocean until I come back to it. I get to sit on the beach and watch humpback whales swim past… tough. I’m enjoying myself immensly! Out.

T+422 Steve Irwin

Filed under: The Road — Greg @ 3:57 pm

Today marks a sad day for Australian Conservation. One of it’s most vocal and well known proponents was killed today whilst filming a doco off the coast of QLD. As a conservationist Steve Irwin was known for his loud, outlandish ‘larikin’ style, however he got noticed by the world and achieved many of his aims for this planet. When your time is up, your time is up and he must have completed what he was supposed to on this planet. I hope that people will continue his work, he was the real deal. My thoughts are with his friends and family.

In other news, I’m now in Maputu - a couple of days early. The expiry on my SA visa read 06/09/03… So of course when I checked it a few weeks ago to confirm of course all I read was the ‘06/09′. Last night when checking again (dunno why?) I actually read the whole date and realised the error of my ways… I got to the border today thinking at worst I would be paying R100 a day for overstaying, not being to worried about the AUD20 it was gonna cost me. Well no, think again my friends, try R1000 for one day over. One freakin goddamn day - however, I finally met an official who I couldn’t bribe and yours truly now has to pay R1000 before I can go back in. Bugger! to say the least. Oh well. Nothing much apart from that, I’m off to spend 2 weeks on the beach drinking beer and chasing girls!! Yee Haw!!
